Steaming Through Berkhamsted
Steaming Through Berkhamsted
'Steaming Through Berkhamsted (from Bourne End to Northchurch)' was my first published album of pure local railway nostalgia featuring historic photographs by H C Casserley, my well-known grandfather who was probably the most famous and prolific railway photographer and historian of the 20th century. Written by R M Casserley (his son-my father). Published November 2017 by my imprint Goose Publishing with a foreword by Paul Atterbury. HCC documented life on the LMSR tracks for nearly 40 years. He had his home "Ravensbourne" built alongside the track, next to the (then) goods yard. Every aspect of the railway is covered, from the early pre-war days, the horse-drawn gasworks coal tram, the goods yard, engine shed, early lifts, the terrible Bourne End accident of 1945, the signal box, snow scenes including the big freeze of 1946/7.....softback,125 pages , colour on every page even though all the photos are B&W. Professionally designed locally in Pitstone, Bucks printed on high quality 'art' grade paper in Reading, Berks. UK,
Only ONE copy left ! ...See the follow up book " Steaming Through the Chilterns" which has vary many more Berkhamsted Steam photos including many in the snow
