Hemel Hempstead St Mary's Church Old Town
The magnificent spire of this 12th c. church is one of the tallest in Europe! (200ft)
It is topped by a gilded weather vane
Construction commenced in 1140 and the church was dedicated in 1150 although construction continued for another 30 years. It is not known why such a grand church was constructed in what at the time was a small hamlet.
I show my work annually in the church as part of the Art in the Nave exhibition which raises funds for charities. My father was a keen bell-ringer and rang at this historic church.
I now offer the original artwork for sale direct from my studio in Tring, Herts. The originals are hand-painted painted using water-based Winsor & Newton professional gouache paint on Arboreta E.S. white drawing cartridge paper 160g/m2
