The Windmill and the Full Moon pub overlook Cholesbury Common, sometimes called Hawridge Common. The four storey tower mill was built in 1883 by Hillsden's of Tring. The 16th c. Full Moon pub was once called the Half Moon, and became "full" in 1820. The memorial stone obelisk was placed on the common in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee.
